I’m off this afternoon.  I am leaving today because I’m an Exhibitor and I have to set up my booth tomorrow.  Most exhibitors have already been in High Point for a while, getting their showrooms ready, fussing and dressing.  THE BATH COLLECTION, my line of extra long ready made shower curtains, only takes about 2 hours for set-up and display.  I’ll be at the loading dock by 8 a.m. tomorrow morning and should have the booth complete by lunch.

The International Home Furnishings Market officially opens at 8 a.m. on Saturday morning.  However, many of the showrooms will be open on Friday and several are having welcome parties on Friday evening.  The market is spread throughout the city of High Point.  My booth will be in one of my favorite buildings, Suites At Market Square, which is attached to the Historic Market Square building, an old factory with wonderful architecture.  This time, we’ll be on the Mezzanine level, Booth 4027.

While I’m excited about going and being an Exhibitor again, I know that Market is a lot of hard work.  As a designer, it’s truly, truly difficult for me to be “stuck” in my own booth when I want so badly to go to all the showrooms and buildings and see what’s new, touch and feel.  It’s important to know and see so that when I’m recommending furnishings to my clients, I have first-hand knowledge.

I’ve been attending High Point since the year 2000 off and on as a Designer and I’ve always travelled with fellow designers who are my dear friends.  Because we live in Atlanta, High Point is about a 5+ hour drive, so we have traditionally carpooled and roomed together, going our separate ways during the day and meeting up to have lunch and dinner after a long, grueling day.

This year, I’ll have the company of my friend and fellow designer, Regina Schuber from Dublin, GA and I have someone from High Point who will be coming to help with my booth each day.  I’m anticipating heavy traffic and lots of sales!

THE BATH COLLECTION is always well received and there are always positive comments about how much the product is needed!  I’m filling a forgotten niche in the home fashion market.  I have 5 new introductions this market and I’m looking forward to hearing the reactions!

Wish me luck and if you come, please say hello!

Next Friday, October 15, 2010, is another great opportunity to help support cancer research.

Through my friend and fellow designer, Lynn M. Morley, I have donated a signed copy of the book, Spectacular Homes of Georgia. in which my work was featured, together with a one hour consultation, to be added to the auction items.  (Hope somebody buys it!)

The Seena Magowitz Foundation is among the hosts for the FIRST GOLF ATLANTA CHARITY GOLF TOURNAMENT to benefit globalCure, a new initiative aimed at finding better treatments for pancreatic cancer.

The event will take place at the Crabapple Golf Club, located at 4115 Earney Rd. Woodstock, GA  30188-2239  and begins at 9:30 a.m. with a continental breakfast.  Golf and an awards luncheon follow.  The luncheon will feature the live auction.

For more information, log onto:  www.seenamagowitzfoundation.org.

I cannot be present, as I will be in High Point, setting up my booth for my company: Legacy Linen Group.  However, I am sure the event will be a great success.

Tomorrow, Thursday, October 7, from 11:30 to 1 o’clock, I will be in Roswell at THE WORKS for a To The Trade presentation of the new showroom.  If you’re a decorator or designer in the greater Atlanta area, you should be at this event.

As I’ve mentioned, I am one of the members of THE WORKS through my company, Legacy Linen Group.  THE BATH COLLECTION, my line of ready-made, extra long shower curtains, is on display and available for purchase in the store.

However, I will also be working tomorrow on behalf of Breast Cancer Awareness and will be having a jewelry trunk show & sale for those in attendance and have pledged that 20% of the profit on the sale of every item will go towards this cause.

Legacy: THE JEWELRY COLLECTION, is my newest venture.  It’s just a small sideline, but one I enjoy and it gives me an opportunity to give back.  The Collection consists of lovely pieces that are “designer replicas” .

If you’re planning to attend, please RSVP to betteraburn@gmail.com.

This post has absolutely, positively NOTHING to do with interior decorating or design!  So why am I posting it?  Because, the animals need our help.

Tomorrow evening is an opportunity to lovers of animals in the north metro Atlanta area to step up and join in and get a great bauble to boot!  That’s because I will be hosting a jewelry trunk show & sale and a portion of the proceeds will go to benefit our local ANIMAL ACTION RESCUE.

I’ve added a new venture to my line-up – after all, it’s not as if running a successful international interior design firm isn’t enough!  (Legacy Design Group, Inc.)  It’s not as if running an up-and-coming one-of-a-kind product manufacturing company isn’t enough!  (Legacy Linen Group, LLC).  It’s not as if being a wife of 38 (!) years and mother of two incredible grown children isn’t enough!  Oh no, I needed to add something else to the mix.  And so,

Legacy, THE JEWELRY COLLECTION  was born.  I have always loved jewelry and I am often complimented on the pieces I wear.  I have a knack for mixing my “real” jewelry with well made costume and designer replica pieces.

Tomorrow evening, from 5-8 p.m., I will be at THE WORKS in Roswell doing what I love – showing and selling my line of beautiful designer replica jewelry to anyone who wants to help Animal Action Rescue.  And, I’ve got some really, really great pieces.

THE WORKS is located at 10800 Alpharetta Highway in Roswell.  That’s at the intersection of Highway 9 & Mansell Rd. and the shop is located behind the Starbucks.

THE WORKS just celebrated it’s grand opening last week and my line of Extra Long, Ready-Made Designer Shower Curtains is on display and available for purchase through their store.

I hope lots and lots of people will come and help us support this great cause!

DESIGN AND DECORATING TIPS FOR THE BATH COLLECTION VICKI’S LINE OF DESIGNER EXTRA LONG SHOWER CURTAINS

If you’re purchasing one of my designer shower curtains, (www.legacylinengroup.com) here are some helpful decorating tips and information regarding paint colors for your bathroom walls.

Remember, I am only working from the fabrics in The Collection – nothing else in your room is being taken into consideration. Of course, in the final scheme, you cannot isolate the decorative elements. Everything must come together and each piece must be considered as a part of the whole. Think of a puzzle with its pieces pulled apart. You don’t get the entire picture until you put all the pieces into place.

Of course, if you’d like to send us photos of your space for a Designer Room Review, there is a flat design fee of $50 to review your bathroom and make recommendations. Contact us at legacydg@bellsouth.net

So it is with decorating and design. Here are some paint colors to complement your new purchase.

To purchase Farrow and Ball paints, contact info@legacylinengroup.com. Learn more about this venerable English paint manufacturer at www.farrow-ball.com.

Antique Ribbons

I love Farrow and Ball paints. For a tone-on-tone color scheme, try Colors #41 Drab and #54 Dauphin.

I also like Sherwin Williams Concepts In Color Palette card #8 – each of these colors works with this drapery and would create a lovely, soft color scheme.

For contrast, consider Benjamin Moore’s Affinity Colors AF 275 Rustique – a warm, rusty red.

Bella Damask And Bella Stripe

Cream and Ivory – This fabric has a decided “yellow” undercast – which made finding the right trim a more difficult task. Keep this in mind when looking for paint colors. Be careful to use tones in the yellow family – colors with grey or pink undertones will not work.

I love Benjamin Moore’s Historic Palette HC 32 Standish White, HC 33 Montgomery White and HC 36 Hepplewhite Ivory all have yellow undertones and work very well.

If you want blue walls, I suggest Farrow & Ball #14 Berrington Blue.

I also like Sherwin Williams #7701 Cavern Clay – a lovely, warm tone that will complement every complexion.

Birdsong

This is such a pretty fabric and pattern. If you love red, try Benjamin Moore’s 2005-30 Bricktone Red or Sherwin Williams 7582 Salute. Also, if you love Country decorating, this shower curtain can make a beautiful bath, especially with the red walls.

For another design option, use beadboard up the walls to 42” and cap with a rail. Paint the beadboard in the red color and paint above Benjamin Moore Affinity Colors 95 Hush or Sherwin Williams 7524 Dhurrie Beige.

Circus

There are so many possibilities because Circus contains so many great colors!

Reds – Benjamin Moore 2087-20 Watermelon

Red Blue – Benjamin Moore Affinity Colors 530 Lucerne

Green – Martin Senor 1095C Spring Picnic

These colors listed above would be great for kid’s rooms, too. They are all bright, deeply saturated and energetic colors. For a more neutral, subdued palette, try:

Sherwin Williams 6123 Baguette or Benjamin Moore Bone White.

Gold – Benjamin Moore’s HC 10 Stuart Gold.

And, for drama, Benjamin Moore 2107-10 Chocolate Candy Brown or 2111-10 Deep Taupe.

Double Bubble

Be careful with the greens. I don’t often use green in a bath for wall colors due to the “after image” principle. You can try Sherwin Williams 6715 Lime Granita.

The pinks are easy and so girly! For a soft palette, use Sherwin Williams 7108 Pink Vibernum. For mid-grade, refer to Sherwin Williams Fan deck card #123, but be careful with the amount that you use if you go with the deepest hues on this card. Martin Senor’s card #1034 contains 4 pink colors from medium to deeply saturated 1034-D Red Sangria – all of which work.

Don’t forget the floor. To continue decorating, we have a pretty carpet available through one of our Vendors in lime green and white. A 2.8 x 4.8 hand tufted cotton rug retails for $179. Contact us at info@legacylinengroup.com for ordering information. I also like a pink “rag” rug. The size is 20” x 30” and retails for $39.00. Contact us at info@legacylinengroup.com for ordering information.

Four Seasons

The popular Toile de Jouy, a French provincial pastoral scene, comes in Robin’s Egg Blue with tones of soft cream and walnut and the classic Cornflower Blue on White.

Blue and White – Farrow and Ball’s 2012 House White is a soft yellow white that pulls from the fabric. I also like Farrow and Ball’s #37 Hay, slightly deeper.

To stay with the blue in the fabric, Sherwin William’s 6523 Denim is a deeply saturated Blue. I’d probably only recommend using this color if there’s a lot of white in the room.

This drapery also looks great with red walls. Again, I like Benjamin Moore Affinity Colors 290 Caliente.

Robin’s Egg Blue – To pull the warm walnut color from the fabric, use Benjamin Moore Affinity Colors #115 Lodge. To pull the cream tones, use Benjamin Moore HC 24 Pittsfield Buff. To stay with the ground of the fabric, use Sherwin Williams 7621 Silvermist. For drama, try Farrow and Ball’s #37 Green Smoke, a deep teal tone.

Lady In A Swing

This is such a romantic Toile de Jouy and I’ve selected two of today’s most popular colors – black and red. The “ground” color is neutral – more yellow in the red and more beige in the black.

The black drapery looks absolutely fabulous with red walls. Try Benjamin Moore’s Affinity Colors 290 Caliente Red. Both the red and black fabrics look great with Martin Senor’s 1029C Weekend.

For the neutral ground – Red use Farrow & Ball #44 Cream – Perfect!

And for the Black, use Sherwin Williams, Concepts in Color 7506 Loggia.

Lion Eyes

I believe this fabric can go in several directions: Fun, especially for children, or sophisticated and dramatic.

Benjamin Moore Affinity Colors #370 Citrine or #375 Rattan; Farrow and Ball’s #44 Cream.

To continue the decorating, I suggest the Shaggy Raggy cotton area rug. A 22” x 34” retails for $89.

For a walk on the wild side, consider the Deluxe Leather shag area rug! A 3.6 x 5.6 retails for $359 and comes in several colors that will work with all 3 colorways.

Contact info@legacylinengroup.com for other sizes and ordering information.

Paradise

The main fabric in this drapery has so many pretty colors to go in a tropical climate.

If you want to be bold, try Sherwin Williams’ Concepts In Color 7602 Indigo Blue. It pulls the deepest tones of the blue and would be sensational in a waterfront home. Be careful with your lighting if you go with a wall color this deep! For a softer color, try Sherwin Williams 0019 Festoon Aqua.

To pull the greens, Sherwin Williams’ Concepts In Color 7742 Agate Green is a lovely mid-tone.

To warm up the room and pull the pink and coral tones, I recommend Sherwin Williams 0025 Rosedust or Benjamin Moore 2168-40 Peachland.

To bring out the yellow, Benjamin Moore’s 2023-60 Butter, is very close to the ground of the main fabric.
